ALEXANDER MORRIS

WRITER | LYRICIST | ACTOR

ABOUT

I’m a writer and theatre-maker who loves stories that focus on the absurdities of live, and how storytelling can move without being sentimental.I’m interested in characters on the edge of something and my work often explores performance itself - who we are when we’re being watched, and what happens when the mask slips.I write for the stage, including new plays and musical theatre, and I’m drawn to collaborative processes that allow work to evolve through rehearsal and conversation.I’m currently developing new projects and looking for opportunities to share work and collaborate, so please reach out if you'd like to learn more!

SELECTED WORK

BUTTERLY BOYS
a one act play
"Is anywhere ever really home for people like us?"Set in a small countryside pub, three friends reunite after being split apart in London. Exploring themes of sexuality, identifity and belonging, Butterlfly Boys will leave you questioning your own friendships and how we mask to fit in.Selected for the Omnibus Theatre '96 Festival' and Queer Minds 'Spotlights' Festival

A SQUARE IS
a play in two acts
"I thought I had my memory. But you sold that too."In a world where confinement is clean, efficient, and profitable, a woman navigates a controlled environment governed by reward, surveillance, and performance, sustaining herself through digital labour while clinging to memories of life beyond the room.As cracks appear in the system, the play questions who benefits from punishment — and what is erased in the process.

UPCOMING

I, GODZILLA
a musical adventure
"Out of the waves, thrown into the sky,
there's no looking back and no saying goodbye"
Sol, Crissy and Hank are three young outsiders who connect through a shared love of monster movies and home-made special effects. What begins as play becomes a private world where imagination takes the lead and reality starts to blur.As their films grow bolder, the monsters they create begin to reflect their own fears, identities and unspoken griefs. When Sol is given a nickname meant to diminish him, he is forced to decide whether to reject it or transform it into the beginning of his own origin story, even as the label threatens to pull the trio apart.A coming-of-age musical about myth-making, friendship and the power of reclaiming the stories told about us, I, Godzilla explores how the worlds we imagine can shape who we become.Selected for the TOHO Musical Theatre Showcase 2026
